There’s no place like home for the holidays so come lift your spirits and celebrate the season with the Hallmark movie magic of Downtown Oroville.
Join family, friends, and familiar faces for hot cocoa to warm your insides.
Stroll through the storybook shops where you can support your favorite small town business who need you now more than ever.
Gaze at the thousands of twinkling lights strewn over the historic downtown buildings and enjoy the comforting, cheery Christmas songs ringing through the streets.
This year may have been filled with uncertainty but one thing we know we can count on is the small-town charm and lively holiday spirit of Downtown Oroville. You won’t want to miss this year!
Christmas Preview: Saturday, November 21st, 4-8pm
Come kick off the holiday season with live music, ballet dancers, and even a selfie-ready Santa!
We might be doing some things a little differently this year (socially-distanced Santa and no Christmas Tree Lighting) but we’re doubling down on the holiday fun.
From the balloon-making magician near Tiny Hinies to the ballet dancers in the windows at The Galley and Consign/Design on Meyers St. and competitive dancers at Strive Dance studio on Bird St., the Christmas preview is still going to be your favorite way to enjoy the early holiday season.
The downtown shops will be decked out in Christmas decor and new arrivals ready to go under your Christmas tree.
The horse-drawn carriage will be clopping down the streets ready to take you on a tour of the lights and sights of historic downtown ($5 per person, children 3 and under ride for free. Masks will be required while riding, the carriage will be sanitized after each ride.)
So bundle up and join us for yummy treats, live music, and more!
Small Business Saturday: Saturday, November 28th, 10am-5pm
Come down and support your favorite local shops during our 11th Annual Shop Small event! This year instead of the passport event we’ll be holding a raffle.
For every $20 you spend in participating downtown shops, you get one raffle ticket. After you finish your holiday shopping, bring your raffle ticket back to the Downtown Office at 1382 Meyers St. and you’ll automatically be entered to win a tote bag FULL of goodies from our downtown shops.
Winners will be announced Monday, November, 30.
“Parade of Lights” Drive-In
Just because we can’t encourage gatherings doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate!
Our drive-in last May was such a success we’re doing it again!
Bring your hot chocolate, holiday cookies, and kettle corn and come to watch The Grinch starring Jim Carrey with us!
Tickets to this event are free but limited. Sign-up will be available starting December 1st. All ticket holders are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to gain entry to the movie. Toys will be donated to families affected by the wildfires.
And don’t forget about the Tour of Lights! For more information, you can check out the Tour of Lights Facebook Page or the Mercury Register website. Don’t forget to make the historic downtown district part of your own light tour to see all the holiday cheer our town has to offer!
